Product Description
45mm Ball Bearing Drawer Slide Roll Forming Machine
The 45mm Ball Bearing Drawer Slide Roll Forming Machine is designed to manufacture the steel rail profiles used in three-section telescopic drawer slides. The equipment covers inner rail, middle rail and outer rail production, with forming tooling matched to each profile.
The production process integrates decoiling, roll forming, straightening, online punching and hydraulic cutting. Cold-rolled steel strip is progressively shaped into the required rail section and processed to the specified hole pattern and finished length.
The reference configuration uses 12 forming stations for each rail profile, with Cr12MoV forming rollers hardened to HRC 60–62 and Ø52 mm shafts made from 45# steel.
Rail dimensions, material thickness combinations, mounting holes and finished lengths are specified according to the customer’s drawings. The machine configuration can also be reviewed for rail profiles used in full-extension and soft-close drawer slide designs.
Production Process
Decoiling → Roll Forming → Straightening → Online Punching → Hydraulic Cutting → Finished Rail Collection
Cold-rolled steel strip is supplied from the decoiler and passes through the forming stations to create the required rail cross-section.
The straightening section adjusts the formed rail before the punching and cutting operations. Online tooling produces the specified holes, and the hydraulic cutting unit cuts the rail to the required length.
Inner, middle and outer rails use their respective forming and punching tooling. The completed rail components proceed to the finishing and assembly operations required by the drawer slide design.

The 12 m/min figure is a forming speed reference. Finished-piece output depends on rail length, punching requirements, cutting cycle and production conditions.
Rail Thickness Combinations
The following combinations are specified in the reference equipment documents:
| Configuration | Inner Rail | Middle Rail | Outer Rail |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1.0 mm | 1.0 mm | 1.2 mm |
| B | 1.1 mm | 1.1 mm | 1.4 mm |
| C | 1.2 mm | 1.2 mm | 1.5 mm |
The selected thickness combination must be matched to the approved rail profiles and tooling. Requirements for multiple thickness combinations should be confirmed when selecting the machine configuration.
Inner Middle and Outer Rail Production
A three-section ball bearing drawer slide uses inner, middle and outer rails that work together as a telescopic assembly.
Each rail has a different cross-section and requires its own forming and punching tooling. The reference equipment specification provides 12 forming stations for each of the three rail profiles.
The rail drawings should be reviewed as a matched set, including cross-section dimensions, mounting holes, end features and assembly clearances. This allows the tooling to be developed around the complete slide design.
Final sliding performance depends on the finished rails, bearings, cages, accessories and assembly quality.
Online Punching and Hydraulic Cutting
The equipment integrates online hydraulic punching and cutting to process the rail after forming and straightening.
Punching tooling is designed around the required mounting holes and other specified features. The cutting system produces rails to the agreed finished length.
A servo-driven tracking cutter can be specified as an optional configuration. Its suitability is reviewed according to the required output, rail length and punching cycle.
Dimensional tolerances and inspection methods are agreed against the approved rail drawings.
Forming Rollers and Tooling
The forming rollers are made from Cr12MoV steel and heat-treated to HRC 60–62.
CNC machining is used to produce the roller contours, while optical measurement supports inspection of the tooling geometry. The forming shafts use 45# steel with a diameter of 52 mm.
The roller profile, forming sequence and machine setup are matched to the selected rail cross-section and material thickness.
Machine Configuration
Decoiler
Supports the steel coil and supplies strip to the forming section. Coil dimensions and loading requirements are confirmed for the selected configuration.
Main Roll Forming Machine
Progressively shapes the steel strip into the required rail profile. The reference specification uses 12 forming stations for each inner, middle and outer rail configuration.
Straightening Section
Adjusts the formed rail before punching and cutting, supporting the straightness requirements of the finished component.
Hydraulic Punching Unit
Produces the specified holes using tooling matched to the rail drawing.
Hydraulic Cutting Unit
Cuts the processed rail to the required production length. Servo-driven tracking cutting is available as an optional configuration.
Electrical Control System
Coordinates the forming, punching and cutting operations according to the selected production setup.
Finished Rail Collection
Receives the completed rail components for subsequent handling, finishing and assembly.

The machine produces rail components for 45 mm ball bearing drawer slides used in:
- Furniture drawers
- Office and storage cabinets
- Bedroom and bathroom cabinets
- Toolboxes and workbench drawers
- Equipment drawers and storage compartments
- Customized telescopic drawer systems
The finished slide’s load capacity, travel and service life are determined by the complete product design and testing.
